I have lead 8 previous trips to Colombia with Richi as our local host. He and his wife are like family to me. It has become a staple in Penguin Paragliding training. The weather is consistent and there will be very little Para-Waiting. Many pilots have gone on the trip as a P1 and came back home ready to take on all the local mountains. Experienced pilots traveling with us usually fly 2 to 4 hours per day and come with another 30 to 40 hours of flying under their belt and lots of thermal time.
You will be able to improve your skill set tremendously with so much flying in such a short amount of time. Most participants rack up about 30 flights over the trip. Many of these flights will be over an hour in duration. You will be able to work on the following: forward launches, light wind reverse launches, THERMALLING, and accuracy landing in the main landing area.
There are many launches and XC routes in the area that we will be staying in. We will start the trip at the local launch to get everyone warmed up and then build to bigger and longer flights as the trip goes on. Our local instructor will pick the best flying location each day based on the weather.
I find the people in Colombia to be extremely friendly and I honestly feel safer in parts of Colombia than I do in Vallejo.
I keep the group limited to 8 to 14 participants so if you want in then please let me know ASAP. This trip always fills up quickly.
I highly encourage you to talk to Penguins that have already been to Colombia with me. If you are not sure who has gone before, just ask in “open discussions” on telegram. What makes this trip special is all the fun beyond flying: meeting locals, great food, swimming holes, BBQs, amazing vistas, the list goes on and on…
